Your data and connections: always in your control

Dayfolio connects to a few services to build your planner: your calendars, your task apps and your reMarkable account. Each connection has one job. You choose which ones to use, and you can remove any of them whenever you like.

What each connection is used for

  • Calendars (Google Calendar, Microsoft Calendar, iCal feeds) are read-only. Dayfolio reads your events to print them in the planner and create Meeting Notes pages. It never creates, changes or deletes anything in your calendar.

  • Task apps (Todoist, Google Tasks, Microsoft To Do and Microsoft Planner): Dayfolio reads your tasks and writes back only whether a task is completed or reopened when you check it off with your pen and, if you turn on Move unfinished tasks to today, the new due date of the tasks it carries forward.

  • reMarkable Cloud delivers your planner: Dayfolio uploads it and keeps it up to date.

Dayfolio only accesses and keeps what it needs to generate your planner. Connection tokens and other sensitive data are stored encrypted.

Your handwriting stays on your reMarkable

Your notes live in the planner file on your tablet. To show the pencil badge on Meeting Notes pages and to complete tasks, Dayfolio checks whether a page or a task circle has a mark on it.

Remove a connection at any time

Removing a connection never touches your handwriting. Events or tasks from that source simply leave the planner at the next sync.

  • A calendar: open your planner at app.dayfolio.io → Change calendar, then press Disconnect on the Google or Microsoft card, or the × next to an iCal feed.

  • A task app: Task settings → Disconnect on its card, then press Sync now so the To Do List lines are released cleanly.

  • Microsoft Planner only: untick Also include Microsoft Planner tasks in the Microsoft To Do card.

  • Your reMarkable account: in Step 10 — Sync method, press Disconnect reMarkable and confirm (Reconnect with a different code only replaces the link with a new one). You can also remove the paired app at my.remarkable.com → Devices and apps, where reMarkable lists it with a generic name (such as "Windows app") rather than "Dayfolio". Syncing then stops, and the planner file and everything you wrote in it stay on your tablet; until you reconnect or delete the planner from your dashboard, you may receive emails about the failed syncs. You can also remove Dayfolio from the security settings of your Google, Microsoft or Todoist account; the effect is the same.

Deleting your data

If you'd like your account or any stored connection data deleted, for example after you stop using Dayfolio, email hello@dayfolio.io from your account's address with the subject Data Deletion Request and tell us what to remove. We'll confirm once it's done. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
