Renaming, moving or deleting the planner file
After the first sync, the planner is an ordinary document in My files on your reMarkable, and Dayfolio keeps updating that same document at every sync.
Rename, move, tag — all fine
Dayfolio identifies the planner by its document identity in the reMarkable Cloud, not by its name or folder. So you can:
rename it on the tablet or in the reMarkable app;
move it into any folder;
add tags to it or to individual pages.
None of this affects syncing. The name in Dayfolio (Step 1) and the name on the tablet are independent — changing one doesn't change the other. See Renaming your planner.
Don't work in a copy
A duplicate of the planner made on the tablet is a separate document: Dayfolio doesn't know it and never updates it. Keep writing in the original; use Add note page when you need more space — see Add a note page anywhere in your planner.
Deleting the file
Dayfolio updates the existing document; it can't recreate one that no longer exists in the cloud. If the planner is deleted on the tablet, the next sync fails. Two situations:
It's in the Trash — restore it from the reMarkable Trash and press Sync now. Syncing resumes, handwriting included.
It's gone for good — on your planner page at app.dayfolio.io, delete the planner and create a new one with the same settings; the next sync delivers a fresh planner. Handwriting from the deleted file can't be recovered by Dayfolio, since it was stored inside that document on the reMarkable side.
A second copy appeared on the tablet
If you see two planners and only one carries your notes, don't delete either — write to hello@dayfolio.io with the two names and we'll confirm which one Dayfolio is syncing to before anything is removed.
When you stop using Dayfolio
The document stays on your reMarkable with everything you wrote; it just stops receiving updates. Nothing is removed from your tablet.
