Tasks missing, on the wrong day, or not completing

A task isn't on the Day View

  1. Does it have a due date? Only dated tasks go on a Day View; the rest are in the Tasks Index under Inbox. In Google Tasks, use the date field, not the deadline. See Connecting Google Tasks.

  2. Is it in the Live Preview? In Step 8, pick the day in the Tasks preview. Listed there means Dayfolio sees it; then the planner just needs a sync (point 6).

  3. Right account? The card in Step 8 shows the connected account and its task count. A task app connected with another account than the one holding your tasks shows 0 tasks: press Disconnect, then Connect and choose the right account (Use another account on the Microsoft sign-in). See Connecting Microsoft To Do.

  4. Is it a Microsoft Planner task? Planner tasks can look like To Do tasks (Microsoft To Do lists them under Assigned to me), but they come in only when Also include Microsoft Planner tasks is ticked in the Microsoft To Do card. See Connecting Microsoft Planner.

  5. Out of lines? A day has 10, 15 or 20 task lines, and completed tasks keep theirs. Tasks beyond that are in the Tasks Index; choose more lines in Step 4 — see Tasks on the Day View: placement, order and lines.

  6. Synced since? Press Sync now, then on the reMarkable close the planner, wait for the sync icon and reopen it. The footer shows the generation time.

A task is on the wrong day

Due dates are placed in the time zone from Step 3. If tasks land a day early or late, check that time zone matches where you are — see Language, time format and time zone — and sync.

The check didn't complete the task

  • Checks are read at sync time: sync and wait for the regenerated page. With Smart Sync+ this happens throughout the day.

  • Use the pen, inside the circle. A finger tap does nothing; a stroke outside the circle isn't counted.

  • Only app tasks can be completed this way; handwritten lines aren't linked to a task app.

  • Turn on Email me when tasks are updated after a sync to see exactly what each sync recognized — see Task email notifications.

A task was completed that you didn't check

A stroke that strays from a neighboring task's circle can be read as a check. Keep checks inside their own circle, reopen the task by erasing the stray stroke and syncing, or just reopen it in the app.

Empty lines between tasks

A line stays reserved for the task that was placed on it, to protect anything you wrote next to it. When that task is deleted, moved to another day, or its app is disconnected, the line can appear empty until the next syncs clear it. If you disconnect an app, press Sync now right after so the lines are released cleanly. To rebuild a day's placements from scratch: disconnect the app, sync, reconnect, sync — see Tasks on the Day View: placement, order and lines.

Order looks wrong

Priority is applied when a task is first placed; after that it keeps its line. Set priorities before the day's first sync, or do the disconnect–sync–reconnect–sync reset above.

Still stuck?

Write to hello@dayfolio.io with the task's name, its due date in the app, the app it comes from and the planner name — that's usually enough.
