Navigating the planner: finger vs. pen, header icons and badges
Finger taps, pen writes
On reMarkable, links inside a PDF are activated by touch, and the pen always draws. So:
Tap a date, an event, a header icon or a month tab with your finger to navigate.
Use the pen for handwriting, ticking off tasks and drawing.
If you tap a link with the pen you'll just leave a mark on the page. This is standard reMarkable behavior for every PDF, not something Dayfolio can change.
The header icons
Every page has the same row of icons at the top right:
Grid — the Year View.
Month (shows the month abbreviation, e.g. SEP) — the current month.
Week (shows the week number, e.g. W38) — the current week.
Day (shows the day number, e.g. 14) — today.
List — the Meetings Index.
Check — the Tasks Index.
On Day and Week views you also get ‹ › arrows to move to the previous or next day/week. The icon for the page you're on is simply omitted (on a Day View you won't see the Day icon, and so on).
On a Meeting Notes page the icons work slightly differently: Month, Week and Day point to the date of that meeting, not to today — so you can jump straight from your notes to the day the meeting happened and see it in context.
Titles are links too
On a Day View, the month name in the title opens the Month View and the week number opens the Week View.
On a Week View, each day number opens that day; on a Month View, each day number opens the day and each week label (W36, W37…) opens the week.
On the right edge (left edge in the left-handed layout), the 2026 tab opens the Year View and each month tab opens that month.
Badges
Small pills tell you where you are relative to today:
TODAY, TOMORROW, YESTERDAY on Day Views and Meeting Notes pages.
THIS WEEK, NEXT WEEK, LAST WEEK on Week Views and Meeting Notes pages.
CURRENT MONTH on the Month View.
They are updated on every sync, so the badge always reflects the day the planner was last generated (check the footer for that timestamp).
Jumping to a specific page number
If you ever scroll past the end of the planner, tap the four-squares icon in the reMarkable toolbar to open the page overview, then Go to page and type 1 to return to the cover. From there the header icons take you anywhere. (The blank pages at the very end that say Reserved page are spare pages Dayfolio fills in over the year — see Reached a blank "Reserved page"? Your planner is still there.)
