Setting up your planner: the 10 steps at a glance
Setting up a planner takes about five minutes. Every change is saved automatically, and you can come back to any step later from your planner page (Edit settings, Change calendar, Task settings, Sync options).
Step 1 — Name & appearance
Planner name — you can also rename or move the file later, directly on your reMarkable.
Year — fixed once the planner is generated.
Device format — Full-size reMarkable (Paper Pro, reMarkable 1, 2 and Paper Pure) or Paper Pro Move. Also fixed once generated.
Appearance — Colored or Black & White (High Contrast), plus a High legibility option that renders event text in solid black with bolder fonts. Recommended on every device, especially the reMarkable 2 and Paper Pure.
Step 2 — Which hand do you write with?
Right-handed puts the year and month tabs on the right edge of the page and, on full-size layouts, keeps a margin on the left for the reMarkable toolbar; left-handed mirrors both. On the Move layout the toolbar margin is at the top either way. See Right- or left-handed layout.
Step 3 — Region & time
Language of dates and labels in the planner (13 languages available), 12-hour or 24-hour time, and your time zone. The time zone is also used to schedule your daily sync.
Step 4 — Day, week & month view
Week starts on Sunday or Monday.
Calendar event text size: Auto, Large or Compact.
Day View start and end hours, and 10, 15 or 20 task lines per day.
Week View: workweek (Mon–Fri) or full week.
Month View: show all-day events, show timed events as pills or dots, and cell style (Planning mode keeps space for handwritten notes; Calendar mode fills the cell with events).
Step 5 — Weather (optional)
Pick a city and °C or °F to show daily weather in your views. Leave it empty to skip.
Step 6 — Connect your calendar
Google Calendar, Microsoft Calendar, and any number of iCal/ICS feeds — all at once if you like. Choose which calendars to include, set their colors, hide events by keyword, and preview any day of this week or next in the Live Preview. See the Calendars collection.
Step 7 — Meeting notes
Choose Smart detection (pages only for events that look like real meetings) or all timed events, and how far ahead pages are created (2 weeks recommended, or 4 weeks). See the Meeting Notes collection.
Step 8 — Connect your tasks (optional)
Todoist, Google Tasks, Microsoft To Do and Microsoft Planner. Also here: email notifications about task updates, a daily task summary email, and Move unfinished tasks to today. See the Tasks collection.
Step 9 — Sync frequency
Every plan includes one automatic sync per day (pick the hour) plus unlimited manual syncs. Smart Sync+ is an optional add-on that syncs many times throughout the day.
Step 10 — Sync method
Your planner is delivered through the reMarkable Cloud. Connect your reMarkable account here with a one-time code — see Connecting your reMarkable account.
Press Save & close, then Sync now on your planner page. Your planner will appear on your tablet within a few minutes.
